CQC ratedCQC rated ESH Community as GOOD because:

•  There were good systems in place to keep clients safe during detoxification and recovery. Staff were skilled at observing, monitoring, recording and being alert to the health and well-being of clients.

•  The environment was safe and therapeutic. The service used new technology to support safe unobtrusive monitoring of clients undertaking detoxification.

•  The service was effective in ensuring recovery, both during and after a client’s admission. A major part of this was involving clients in frequent activities and therapies, both inside the service and out in the wider community. It helped to build clients’ resilience by involving families and carers and supporting them to develop new networks.

•  All staff worked together well, were open and transparent and communicated effectively.

•  The service was well-led by an experienced and ‘hands on’ management team, always available to advise and support.


Complaints and Compliments Policy


Our aim is that all people who use our services have an excellent experience. However, we recognise that sometimes there may be concerns about our services. There are also instances where we receive compliments.

Complaints and compliments provide us with an opportunity to look at our services and where necessary make improvements.

Our aim is to feedback to the person who has raised the complaint or compliment in a timely manner. The most effective way to contact us is locally through one of our staff or by telephone.

ESH Works will continually monitor complaints and the nature of them.


Feedback, whether complaints or compliments can be given to any staff or volunteer, either in person, by telephone, email or letter.

We would like to deal with any feedback informally where possible, however, if requested the staff member or volunteer will formally register the feedback and highlight it to the appropriate manager or director at ESH Works using the Complaints and Compliments Report Form.

Formal complaints

  • Any complaint will be investigated and a response will be given within 3 working days to the person raising the complaint.
  • If the complainant is still dissatisfied with the response provided then a formal meeting will be arranged to review the situation with a senior staff member.      
  • We aim to have all complaints where possible, resolved within 20 working days.
  • Where resolution takes longer than twenty days because the complaint is still being investigated, the complainant will receive a letter explaining this.


  • We will provide feedback on any compliments we receive.

When and what personal data do we collect:

Any personal information which we may collect, record or use in any way, whether on paper, online or any other media, will have appropriate safeguards applied in line with our data protection obligations.

We have appropriate and adequate technical and administrative processes in place to make sure that all your information is kept secure.

ESH Works takes the security of your personal information very seriously. To make sure your personal information is protected, we have a series of technical and administrative measures in place.

Access is limited only to those of our employees who need to access it to provide services to you.

Staff understand our Confidentiality and Privacy Policy guidance, any updates are communicated to all employees.

These privacy safeguards are monitored and strictly enforced.

Your information is processed in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA).


Sharing your personal information:

ESH Works will not share your personal information with any third party that intends to use it for direct marketing purposes.


Young persons

ESH Works only supports adults aged 18 and over.


Disclosure to third parties:

There may be circumstances where ESH Works will need to share your information with third parties. We will only share your personal information with third parties in the following circumstances:

  • Where you have given your consent to the information being shared
  • Where there are issues or concerns affecting your wellbeing or the wellbeing of others
  • Where there is a legal requirement or contractual obligation to share the information

Personal information of our service users may also need to be shared with third parties for example to make arrangements for funding and/or payment of services received.

Additionally, in the event of a reorganisation, merger, or sale of ESH Works or any part of it, we may transfer any and all personal information we collect to the relevant third party.


Accuracy and retention of personal information:

ESH Works makes it easy for you to keep your personal information accurate, complete, and up to date. If any of your personal information changes please let us know so that we can update our records.

We are legally required to hold certain information about you for a set period of time.

The length of time we keep your information for these purposes will vary depending on the obligations we need to meet. All personal information will be deleted or securely destroyed at the appropriate time and we will not keep your personal information for longer than is required or permitted by law.



Your communications with ESH Works (including by telephone or email) may be monitored and/or recorded for training, quality control and compliance purposes to ensure that we continuously improve our customer service standards and to enable us to deliver our services to you.


Your rights:

You have various in relation to how ESH Works uses your information and these are:

  • You are entitled to see what personal information we hold about you at any time. If you wish to access your personal information, please make a data subject access request using contact details set out above.
  • You have a right to receive clear and easy to understand information on what personal information we have, why and who we share it with.
  • If the personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, you can request that it is corrected.
  • You have the right to request that all data held by ESH Works which identifies you is deleted but please note ESH Works may be compelled to maintain your information due to specific legislative or regulatory requirements.
  • Whenever you have given us consent to use your personal data, you have the right to change your mind at any time and withdraw that consent.
  • When we collect your personal data for marketing purposes we will ask you if we can use your data for such purposes or if we can disclose your information to any third party for such purposes.

Other community organisations, market leading brands and smaller local companies have also made the ESH Community residential rehab project possible by providing donations in kind of goods, services or giving significant discounts.

Tesco, Carpetright, Western Power, Bluebell Blinds, Bensons for Beds, Rotary Club of Stratford upon Avon, Rohan and Renault Leicester are just some of the organisations but there are several others who gave significant contributions who wanted to remain anonymous.

Coventry and Warwickshire Co-operative Development Agency (CWCDA) are supporting the project by providing employment advice and guidance to the resisidents under the Accelerate programme with a focus on self emplyment.

We have been awarded the NCVO Approved Provider Standard (APS) for our peer led Mentoring Project and this support is available to all residents to support them on a one to one basic to help them maintain their recovery when they leave the treatment centre.
