Why Choose ESH Community for Residential Rehab in Warwickshire

Choosing residential treatment is a significant step, and finding the right environment is essential. At ESH Community, we provide safe, structured and compassionate residential treatment for men seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction in Warwickshire.

We are a small, not-for-profit, male-only residential detox and rehabilitation service, typically supporting around six residents at any one time. This small-scale setting allows us to offer genuinely personalised care, where each individual is known, listened to and supported as a person rather than a number.

Professional Team with Lived Experience

Our experienced team includes professionals with clinical expertise alongside staff who have lived experience of recovery. This combination creates an environment built on understanding, empathy and trust. We recognise that addiction is often a symptom of deeper emotional and psychological issues, which is why our programme focuses not only on stopping substance use but on helping individuals explore underlying causes and develop healthier ways of coping with life.

Structured, Holistic Residential Treatment

Set in a calm countryside location, our residential rehab in Warwickshire offers a structured daily routine that supports recovery in both body and mind. Our programme combines medically assisted detox, therapeutic counselling and group work with physical wellbeing and reflective practices.

Alongside therapy sessions, residents take part in activities such as yoga, tai chi, exercise and countryside walks. This holistic approach supports mental, physical and emotional wellbeing and helps residents establish balanced routines that can be continued after treatment.

Focus on Aftercare and Long-Term Recovery

Recovery does not end at discharge. At ESH Community, we place strong emphasis on aftercare and long-term support. Former residents are encouraged to stay connected through follow-up counselling, weekly in-house aftercare meetings and ongoing links to recovery networks. This continued support helps individuals build stable foundations for life beyond residential rehab and reduces the risk of relapse.

Working in Partnership with External Services

ESH Community works closely with a range of external organisations and drug and alcohol services to provide joined-up support. We have established strong links with local substance misuse teams, healthcare professionals, recovery communities and specialist support services.

These partnerships help ensure continuity of care before admission, during residential treatment and throughout aftercare. Where appropriate, we work with external services to support residents with housing, employment, benefits and wider social needs, helping them build stable foundations for life beyond rehab.

A Place of Dignity, Respect and Hope

Above all, ESH Community is a place of dignity, respect and hope. We provide a safe and supportive environment where residents are empowered to make meaningful and lasting change, supported every step of the way towards long-term recovery.

  • How long do residents stay at ESH Community?

We have different packages to suit what a resident needs starting at a 12 day detox package and going up to 12 week long term rehabilitation placements depending on their individual needs and recovery goals.

  • How is a detox done and how long does it last?

All detoxes are carried out on site, prescribed by our consultant psychiatrist and administered by our experienced staff team. A standard alcohol or drug detox lasts around 8 days, though this can vary depending on the substance used and the individual’s level of dependence.

  • What types of addictions do you treat?

We support individuals recovering from alcohol and drug dependencies, including cocaine, ketamine, cannabis, prescription medication, and opiate use. Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual’s specific needs.

  • Can you take residents with mental health issues?

Yes.  We can support residents who have a dual diagnosis where addiction coexists with mild to moderate mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma-related issues. Our team provides a safe, structured environment with therapeutic support to help residents manage both aspects of their recovery.

  • Where are ESH Community based?

We are located at Holt Cottage Farm in Southam, Warwickshire, surrounded by rolling countryside — an ideal, peaceful setting for recovery. Many of our residents benefit greatly from spending time outdoors as part of their healing journey.

  • Are staff available 24/7?

Yes. We have trained staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing continuous care and support throughout your stay.

  • How many residents do you have at one time?

Although we are licensed for up to 11 residents, we generally limit our capacity to 6 residents. This allows us to provide individualised, focused support, which has been key to our strong recovery outcomes.

  • What does a typical day look like at ESH Community?

Each day includes a mix of therapeutic groups, one-to-one counselling, holistic activities (such as yoga, tai chi, meditation, and country walks), and personal reflection time. Evenings often include group discussions or film nights, helping residents unwind in a supportive environment.

  • Can I smoke or vape during my stay?

Yes, we have designated smoking and vaping areas outside the main building. We ask residents to use these respectfully and at agreed times.

  • What should I bring with me?

You’ll need to bring comfortable clothing, toiletries, and any prescribed medication. We’ll provide all bedding, towels, and meals. A detailed packing list is provided when you confirm your admission.

  • Do you accept private referrals or funding from councils?

Yes. We welcome privately funded placements and can also work with local authorities, employers, or insurance-funded referrals where applicable.

  • How much does it cost to come to ESH Community?

We offer a range of detox and rehab packages, starting from 12 days through to 28 days or longer. Prices vary depending on the package and type of detox required — please contact us to discuss which option suits your needs best.

  • Do you provide aftercare?

Yes. We offer a weekly aftercare group every Tuesday evening, where ex-residents are welcome to return for continued support and connection. We also provide two post-discharge counselling sessions to help ease the transition back into daily life.

  • Do you support families of residents?

Yes. We understand that addiction affects the whole family. Towards the end of a resident’s placement, we arrange a family call and remain available for follow-up support. We also signpost family members to local community and family support groups.

  • Can I bring my mobile phone?

No. To help residents stay focused fully on their recovery, mobile phones and internet-enabled devices are not permitted during a stay.

  • Can I leave the premises during my stay?

During detox and the early phase of treatment, residents remain on site for safety reasons. Once clinically appropriate, short supervised walks or accompanied outings may be arranged.

  • What happens if I decide to leave early?

We understand that rehab can be challenging. If a resident decides to leave, we’ll carry out a departure risk assessment, inform any referrers or family (where appropriate), and provide advice on next steps or alternative support.

  • What happens after I complete treatment?

After discharge, we stay in touch through our aftercare programme and ongoing phone support. Many ex-residents remain part of our community and even go on to volunteer or work with us.

  • Can I have visitors?

We don’t offer in-person visits at ESH Community due to the short duration of most placements and our focus on maintaining a consistent therapeutic environment.

However, residents are able to make phone calls to family and friends on Sundays, allowing them to stay connected and supported throughout their stay.

  • Do you provide counselling or therapy?

Yes. We provide 2 weekly one-to-one counselling sessions with a BACP accredited councillor and daily therapeutic groups designed to help residents explore the underlying causes of addiction and build coping strategies.

  • Can I continue medication while in rehab?

Yes, as long as it’s prescribed and approved by our medical team. We’ll work with your GP or prescriber to ensure all medication is managed safely and appropriately.

  • Do you help residents find housing or work after rehab?

Yes. We assist with post-treatment planning, including housing support, community reintegration, and employment or volunteering opportunities where possible.

  • What makes ESH Community different from other rehabs?

We’re a not-for-profit, community-based rehab with a unique peer-led approach. Our small size, experienced team, and calm countryside setting allow us to provide truly personalised, compassionate care that focuses on long-term recovery.

  • What is the food like at ESH Community?

Food is one of the things our residents consistently praise! Our on-site cooks prepare fresh, home-cooked meals every day, and there’s usually a freshly baked cake for those with a sweet tooth.

  • What are the next steps?

We don’t expect you to make a decision straight away following your pre-admission visit. If you’d like to move forward with rehab, please call us on 01926 811702 or email support@eshcommunity.org to discuss potential admission dates.
